Из оставшихся неорошаемых земель в бассейне Сыр-Дарьи Джизакская степь по климатическим, почвенным и хозяйственно-экономическим — условиям наибеолее благоприятный массив для развития хлопководства. Техническим проектом орошения и освоения Джизакской степи, разработан- ным институтом «Средазгипроводхлопок», предусмотрено машинное орошение водами Сыр-Дарьи 177 тысяч га, из них 150 тысяч га земель нового орошения. Вода должна подаваться из верхнего бьефа Фархадской плотины по дери- вационному и Южно-Голодностелскому каналам. На сороковом — километре Южно-Голодностепского канала будет построена головная Джизакская насосная станция производительностью 190 м3/с, которая поднимет воду на 23 м в Джи- закский машинный канал протяженностью okono 110 км с расходом 60 м3/с. Строительство ведется комплексным методом, Все машинные каналы облицовываются бетоном, а — внутрихозяяственные сросители выполняются из железобетонных лотков и асбоцементных трубопро- водов. На орошаемой территории предусматривается строительство систематичес- кого закрытого горизонтального и вертикального дренажа. На целинных землях Джизакской степи намечается организовать 22 хлопко- водческих совхоза площадью 5—6 тысяч га каждый, 2 садово-виноградарских, 2 овощеводческих, один свиноводческий и птицефабрику. The first stage of the project envisages 160 million cu.m of earth excavation works, 1,8 million cu.m of concrete and reinforced concrete work, the laying of 930 km of asbestos cement piping and 4,300 km of closed ceramic pipe drainage.
