for the utilisation of alphabetical English, French and German in­
dexes introduced consequently after the main text»
The important peculiarity of the present dictionary is» that 
this is not a list of recommended for general utilisation terras of 
any one school» but the encyclopedic dictionary of existing in the 
world practice terras with their translations into three languages. 
Also important to mention» that there are in the dictionary the 
translations but not the possible correlations of the terms. The 
correlation of the terms of various schools is beyond the scope of 
the present dictionary and should be the subject of consequent 
joint studies in international scale»
Author is fully aware of the fact that the work presented here 
is too far from the perfect and serves only as a first step on the 
way of creation of an unified dictionary of soil nomenclature» which 
should be the result of combined work of many scientists» In this 
connection the present dictionary should be regarded as a first ap­
proximation and as a more or less sorted pile of raw material for 
the future work» Numerous of the collected here terms and their de­
finitions are disputable or not precise» some mistakes are possible 
in the translations» In the process of the following collective work 
all these unavoidable at the first stage incorrectnesses should be 
eliminated» Author is grateful in advance for any constructive cri­
ticism directed to the improvement of the dictionary»
