Мунши доходидъ ло Пигиша, деревеньки, находящейся вЪ LATH
иля въ четырекъ миляхъ ниже Bauypa. 38 Пигишомъ въ пятИ
миляхъ на правомъ берегу находится деревня Баръ-Рошанъ на
границ® области Рошанъ. Въ одномъ дя® пути отеюда находитея
на правохъ берегу Вазнудъ, пограничная деревня Дарваза. Между
Вазнудомъ н Баръ-Рошёномъ‘находитея холина П а-е-хожа, `пряиы-
кающая къ долииЪ Лянжи съ юга. Черевъ ‘пять переходовъЪ 88
Вазиудомъ по течентю Пяяжи находится Кила-Кхумбъ, главный то-
родъ Дарваза. Путь туда по р%к® очень труженъ; навьюченный
лошади не могуть проходить по кему; долина оченъ узка и берега
р®ви обрывисты. Говорять, Кнла-Кхумбъ лежать къ сЪверу ors
Вамура, я по л\тней дорог® изъ Вамура можно добраться до Кила-
Кхумбы въ три дна; лорога эта идеть по течентю пебольшой р'!жи
впадающей у Вамура въ Пянжу, съ права.

За Дарвазомъ находится страна Кхотл&нъЪ, главный городъ во-
торой называется Кулябъ ). '

The volume of the [atter was considerably farger and fta velotity greater
than that of the Panjah. From bank to bank the width of the river bed is
about onte ‘and a half miles, and of this at least one mile was covered with
water. The passage was effecied with great diffieglty. In the summer floods the
water is said to extend from mountain to mountain, & distance of not less than
five miles; it can then only be crossed by boate. The river 18 generally called
the Murghdb, bumt it 18 also known Dby the name of the Darys-i-Bar-
tang, so called from the distriet of that name through which it flows. Three
miles below the junction, on the right bank of the now united rivers, which
still bear the name of Panjah, is Waimur, the chief town of Roshan.

) Ibd., erp. 280: The furthest point dewn tha river reached by him was
Pigieh, a vilage foar or five miles below Wdmur. About five miles beyond
Pigish on the right bank, is the village of Bar Roshan, on the frontier of
Roshén. At one day's march beyond this, also on the right baok, is Wazuud,
the frontier village of Darvdz. Between Waznud and Bar Roshdn ihe Pa-e-
Khoja valley before alluded to enters the Paujah vallay on the sonth. Five
marches along the Panjah beyond Waznidd is Kila Khdmb, the chief town of
the country of Darwiz. The road to it along the river is very difficult, and impas-
seble for laden horses, the valley being very narrow, and the banks of the
river very precipitous. Kila Khimb issaid to lie in & northerly direction from
Widinur and ¢an De resched in three deys by a short summer road, which lies
up the small stream which enters the Panjah (right bank} в; Wérmur. The
boundary between Darwaz and Shighndn is the watershed at the head of the
Wimur ravine. The country of Darwsz possesses villages on both banks of
the river Panjah. At Khimb itself the fort is om the right bank, but some
houses аке on the 16% bank of the river. Below Darwaz is said to be the
country of Khotlan, the chief town ol which is Koldb.
